SAN MARCOS

The "Jira de San Marcos" is celebrated on April 25th. In the morning, after a good breakfast with typical sweets at the doors of the Hermitage of San Roque, where a few days before the Saint has been moved, the pilgrimage begins, accompanying him on foot, on horses, or in decorated carriages, to his Hermitage on the outskirts of the town. There, numerous booths are set up where the celebration takes place.

On April 25th, the "Romería de San Marcos" is celebrated. This day begins with the pilgrimage of the male and female pilgrims dressed in their typical costumes, walking, riding horses, or riding decorated carriages, accompanying the Saint from Almendralejo to the meadow near the Hermitage of the Saint, where many people celebrate this event.
