MONSALUD COLLECTION

The pieces are located in St. Antonio Convent, a cultural centre, and they can be classified into two groups of pieces; ornamental and epigraphic. This collection is dated from the roman to the Middle Age passing through the visigoth and islamic times.

In 1910 when the 5th Marquis of Monsalud dies, an outstanding work of historical research about Extremadura is interrupted. At that time Marquis had an important collection of archaeological finds, the largest group is in the Museo Arqueológico Nacional and the other one is in the Archaeological Collection of Monsalud in Almendralejo. These pieces are located in St. Antonio Abbey, a cultural centre, and they can be classified into two groups of pieces; ornamental and epigraphic. This collection is dated from the roman to the Middle Age passing through the visigoth and islamic times.
